Maija Lindaas and Flora Wiederkehr have been performing together in various constellations for several years. In 2025 they began collaborating with two unusual instruments: harp and jaw harp. Maija and Flora find this instrument combination unique and exciting, and it sits at the core of their musical duo, supplemented with hardanger fiddle. Reinterpreting tunes from Agder and Telemark, the two musicians create original expressions of Norwegian traditional music. In the last year they have performed in various venues, such as Setesdalsfestivalen and Vest-Telemark Museum. They have also performed through Den kulturelle spaserstokken.
Flora Wiederkehr is a fiddle- and jaw harp player from Austria, living in Mandal. She has an education in Norwegian folk music and is currently doing research on Norwegian jaw harp playing as part of her masters degree. Her history with the jaw harp has been a short but wild ride so far, including a deep dive into the playing traditions from Setesdal, Telemark and Valdres, and creative attempts in transferring hardanger fiddle tunes to the instrument.
Maija Lindaas is a harpist and multi-instrumentalist from Minnesota, USA, living in Setesdal. She is trained in both classical and traditional music, and is employed as a teacher in traditional Norwegian folk music in Setesdal. She is a virtuous and creative harp player with experience performing in various settings and genres. Maija has been exploring Norwegian traditional music on the harp for many years and focuses on playing dance tunes, which have rarely been represented on the folk harp before.
